Lamp Shade Tips
The important thing about the height of a shade is that it has a nice proportion when placed on the table or floor lamp base. A general rule of thumb is that the shade should be slightly wider than the lamp base and about two-thirds as high. The shade style should generally match the style of the base, so pair traditional with traditional and so on. It’s always fun to break the rules, of course, but these general guideline on selecting a lamp shade height works in most cases and offers consistent eye-pleasing results.
