When choosing a shade you have to take into account where it will be placed. If a lamp is placed above eye level, on a shelf for example, then you will want to choose a shade with long sides so that the bulb and harp will not be visible. I purchased two of this lamp shade to use with the swing-arm lamps that are next to my bed. They complete the peaceful ,"spa-like" feeling for which I was aiming. I was pleasantly surprised by just how good the quality was for the price also.
