Lamp Shade Tips
A fitter is a piece of hardware that connects a lamp shade to the lamp body and positions the shade correctly on the lamp. There are several types of fitters in use today. Most table lamps have what is called a “spider” fitting. This fitting is attached to the shade at the top of the shade and works with a “harp” attached to the lamp body. All of our spider shades also include the correct sized harp at no extra charge. “Uno” fitters are sometimes seen on small accent lamps. No harp is needed with these fitters, as the shade attaches directly to the bulb and socket. Finally, there are “clip-on” shades. Used for chandeliers and small lamps, this type of shade fitter clips directly onto the light bulb.
