Lamp Shade Tips
We recommend choosing a lamp shade that mimics the basic shape of the lamp base. If you have a square or rectangular base, go with that shape on top for a shade. For curved or urn-shaped lamp bases, use a curved shade; for lamps with hard, straight edges, go with a shade with straight lines and edges. The more traditional or classic the lamp base, the more these general guidelines apply. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule, and sometimes it’s fun to break the rules and mix shapes!
